84th St - Shabbat Table
Guidelines

  • Arrival: Please arrive by 7:50am

  • Table: Make sure that the table and tablecloth are outside (or in the lobby) and set up. If not, please ask security to call facilities to set up the table.  

  • Take the Challah bag:  go to Marco's office (just inside the lobby and to the left) and locate the challah bag (behind the desk or you can ask Marco, it's a white Citarella bag) which contains:

    • a child play Shabbat set to put on the table

    • name tags

    • sanitizing wipes for cleaning

    • cutting boards

    • trays 

    • knives. 

  • Take the Challahs: If there were no challahs in Marco's office, please go to the boxes located outside the Schafler in 83rd street downstairs and take 4 of the water challah (check labeling to be sure due to allergies) for the table. 

  • Stickers: Please write your name on a sticker name tag to wear while volunteering.

  • Prep and Clean:

    • Please take the sanitizing wipes and wipe down the knife, cutting board and trays.

    • Then you can cut up the challah into child size one bite pieces and then leave some on the cutting board at the table for people to help themselves if you're walking around with the tray. 

  • Ready to Serve the Challah! You can walk around with the challah on the trays or just stay at the table. Please greet everyone with "Shabbat Shalom."  

  • Wrapping up: Before 9am the arrival traffic should slow down and you can start to put the leftover challah away in the original plastic bags. The extra challah can be left in the lobby with security. Everything else can be returned to the bag and placed in Marco's office.
